According To Kate: Do It Yourself

Ok, a million pointless posts, I know.
But I have to get all my pictures from my Moms computer onto my blog before I head South.
I am super excited about what I have to show.

I sometimes like to think that I am a DIY kinda girl.
For those of you who don't know - DIY = Do It Yourself.
I have furniture galore. So much infact, that you can't park a car in my garage.
My items include two dining room tables, eight chairs, a hutch, two dressers, a hope chest, a full bed, and a small desk.
For all of these items I've spent less that $250. I love the D.I. & Garage Sales!

When I left for college last year I re-did a shelf and tv stand, the quality of the items was not great but it still worked for our ghetto little apartment.
This year I have my own room and I'm taking down my shelf, a dresser, and then my fabulous mirrored piece.
The dresser is really something I should be proud of.
Well, me and my mom. Emphasis on my Mom. :)
Here are pictures of the before ... just wait til you see the finished product! I will post them when I move into my new house.

According To Kate: You've Gotta Tie Up Your Loose Ends

Just some fun shots of the summer taken on my Mom's camera....
and then some picture from Miss Mer's camera of things that have happened lately...

Elder Stevens came home! He has been serving the Lord in Canada for the past two years, it is so awesome to see our friends come home! I'm ready for all the boys to be back now.

We celebrated Tiff's birthday! On Monday night we had our last sleepover - we kidnapped Tiff and took her to Seven-11 for a slurpie. Welcome to your last year as a teenager Biff!

The Green & White Game! Lately I've been feeling like a little bit of a super-senior but only because my mother is the cheerleading coach and so I've been supporting her and watching her awesome girls, they look so amazing!

Saying our goodbyes! This time of year always brings for "see ya laters" - We love and miss Kena!

According To Kate: I Miss This Place

Hawaii is calling my name.
I'm skipping out on spring semester 2012 and becoming a beach bum.
So there, you'll know where to find me.

According To Kate: Summer Lovin' Had Me A Blast

Ok, so love didn't find a way of creeping into my life this summer, but I did fall in LOVE with these things-

  • The Beasley/Boyd Bachelorette & Burrito Bashes – JP is such a stud. This is not a new addition to my love this, I just especially loved this season.
  • Last Friday Night- Miss Katy Perry always does me RIGHT!
  • Alarm Clocks – Without these I would sleep the day away. Yay for being productive.
  • My Family – Even though our time together hasn’t been long, especially with the overload on work, it has still been good to be with them. I’m sorry I’m moody and cranky at times, I really do appreciate you guys.
  • McDonalds Fruit N’ Yogurt Parfait – two words, Yum & Cheap!
  • Navy & Turquoise – I’ve got the blues. Bad.
  • Rain – Just read my post below. I’m passionate.
  • Gap – The people, the job, the people, the discount, oh, and the people.
  • The University of Utah’s Occupational Therapy Website – Finally, I’ve arrived at a decision. Look out World, here I come.
  • Living Vicariously - @Tiffany Galovich
  • Something Borrowed – Favorite chick flick of the summer! SUCH a buyer! Ginnifer Goodwin = Wonderful
  • The Woodland Ward – I’ve missed every last one of the members that gather there. It has been such a pleasure to be back.
  • Embracing Naturally Curly Hair – Toss hair gently upside down and simply add low amounts of blow drying. Scrunch, flip up, spray…instant jungle hair!

According To Kate: Change Your Way Of Thinking

Prior to summer twenty-eleven I didn't care for rain.
Actually, I didn't like it one bit.
Ok, lets get honest here- I hated it.
It makes me sad.
& It's cold.
Oh, and lets not forget, it makes you wet.
But something happened to me in the past couple months, I have grown quite fond of it. I can't explain this change of heart, nor do I care to. All I know is that I'm lovin' it!
It smells like a designer fragrance that I can't afford, it makes things all squeaky clean, it has the power to make people feel alive, it keeps the world around me green, it's refreshingly cool, and let us not forget, really really cozy. (And when I say cozy, I mean sexy.) I want to run around in my polka dot rain boots like i'm five again in this stuff, I want to sit on my front porch and basque in the beauty of the green because of the affect these little drops have on my views of my favorite valley in the world, and I want to choose to do my hair curly for once, so the moisture in the air has one more reason to find its way to me and wrap it's arms around me.

When it rains I like to think that it's God's way of telling us that he is with us.
This season, I feel pretty close to my home in the Sky.

According To Kate: We Da Girls, You Da Boys

So... I forgot to mention that my girls came to St. George with me last weekend for the wedding.
We drove down, shopped, hung out at the condo, took pictures, went to the temple, relaxed by the pool, went for the yummiest pizza ever, went to the reception, played by the pool some more, went to twentyfive main, and stopped in cedar city to drop the girls off.
I was so happy they went.
We all needed an escape.
Especially from our smelly boys. Just kidding. We really did miss them. :)
Before the temple my mom took me and Kara in matching outfits up to the red cliffs and got some pretty cute pictures of us. I love Petey & Lou more than I know how to explain. I thought I should probably share these fun shots...

According To Kate: It's Pretty Fun When Friends Get Married

Mawwwage Is What Brings Us Together Today.
On July 22, 2011 the first of my College Girls was married!!!
Kiersten & Qualyn were Sealed for Time & all Eternity in the St. George Temple.
Kiersten is one of my very best friends and I am so so so happy for her.
I met her in August last fall but I feel like I have known her for my entire life. We are family, I don't care what anyone says. She wrote Qualyn, who was serving a mission, basically the entire time I knew her. He came home. They were still in love, obviously. They got engaged. Now..Married.
I am just so happy for them and hope that their future together is filled with nothing but the absolute best.
Thanks for letting me be apart of this nothing but lovely day, I love you!

According To Kate: I'm Just .. Happy

I had a good day.
A really good day.
First off, I got to have a sleepover with my two best ladies last night. That makes for a happy start of a day.
I came home and got to spend the morning with my family.
I. Love. Those. People.
I finally got my FAFSA all taken care of. FAFSA means fall...fall means learning...learning means school... school means Cedar City... Cedar City means my people.. my people mean good times.
(Sure, it will be sad to leave my family again, but that's apart of growing up.)
I already have the jittter-bugs thinking about getting back down to my stomping grounds and hitting school hard, living in my cute new home, and making this next year just as great as my first year down there!
I then had to go to work. Surprisingly this made me unbelievably happy. I love the people I work with and I love the environment, getting to meet tons of people every day and talking with them isn't so bad. :) The folding the T-shirts, well that's debatable. Haha. I will be truly sad to leave that place - it has been such a HUGE blessing!
And now.. I'm waiting to have another sleepover. Aren't you supposed to stop having those after a certain age? My answer, heck no!

This summer has been SO spectacular. I refuse to give into fall this early in the game. There are still things to be done.

But, I do feel its important to document my 'usual' summer day.

4:30 - wake up.
4;45 - arrive at the pool.
5:00 - actual arrival time. woops.
5-10:00 - guard. sleep. guard. sleep. repeat.
10-11:00 - talk to my mom. clean up. (rarely, but still) do last minute mid-day things.
11-12:20 - get ready
12:20- 1:00 - jam. listen to my music way to loud, and arrive safely at work.
1 - 10:00 - GAP
10 - 10: 30 - reflect. there is something really quiet about this time.
10 - 12:00 - movies. friends. family.
12 - 4:30 - sleep.

Rough? Maybe. Me? Happy As A Clam.
